The 2024 ACM Europe Summer School on “HPC Computer Architectures for AI and Dedicated Applications” took place in Barcelona from the 2nd to the 6th of September 2024. Distinguished scientists in the HPC field gave lectures and tutorials addressing architecture, software and applications for HPC and AI.
European Processor Initiative, project in which HPC Team participates fully, was a proud sponsor of the event. Mario Kovač, professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Chief Communication Officer at the European Processor Initiative and Director HPC Architecture and Application Center, held a talk titled European Processor Initiative: Cornerstone of EU digital agenda and EU digital sovereignty.
Director Kovač emphasized how the EU has recognized the unique opportunity to help create brand new EU microprocessor industry and address EU sovereignty challenges in the global race for new exascale microprocessor architectures. EPI is a strategic EU project to develop key components for the European Union to equip itself with a world-class supercomputing infrastructure: European general-purpose processor and accelerator processors technologies with drastically better performance and power ratios and tackle important segments of broader and/or emerging HPC and Big-Data markets.
