Daniel Hofman, an associate professor and member of the team, has been awarded the Award for Innovations and Technology Transfer by the University of Zagreb for the academic year 2024/2025, specifically in the category of the most successful technology transfer.
The award was presented on November 5, 2025, during the University of Zagreb Day ceremony. It recognizes his outstanding contributions to reducing latency and energy consumption in video data compression on drones. Through scientific-research projects with industry, particularly in collaboration with the Croatian company ORQA, innovative scientific achievements have been successfully transferred to practical applications.
The foundation of this technology transfer lies in two innovative methods: a method for efficient calculation of video motion vectors in real-time video encoding for remotely controlled devices, and a method of embedding image information into radio frequency wave.
